What drew us to this product – which came in a box of ‘Goodness’ – was not the 4 Star Health Rating, or the ‘Lunch Box Friendly’ promise, even the assurance that there was ‘No Added Sugar’ – it was the fact that they actually highlighted, well circled, the Sugars line in the nutrition panel and then added an arrow to make sure the buyer knows that it’s ‘Only Naturally Occurring Sugars’.
Whatever way you look at it, this product contains 48.2% sugar and there’s a lot of words on the packaging designed to convince you that this amount of sugar is good.
It’s not.
So, is Food Labeling still an issue? We’d say YES!
To avoid being deceived by packaging, remember The One Line Rule; if it contains more than 5 grams or 5% sugar, move on.
